Fellows

AKASH HARIZAN  23 year old Akash is a photojournalist with The Mileage, a monthly news magazine from Guwahati. He is also a member of Aaranyak, a wildlife and environment NGOworking towards biodiversity conservation.  He is currently working with Prag News, a local newschannel. Akash’s deep Interest in photography and environment issues motivated him to further enhance his skills at The Green Hub.

 

ANOKO MEGA  31 year old Anoko, a graduate in Geography and History, loves photography, travelling and adventure. He is currently working on People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRS), with RIWATCH where his role is to photograph the flora and fauna of the region. Through the fellowshiphe hopes to sharpen his photography skils. Anoko also works with the Society for Upliftment of Roing (SUR).

 

APURBA BASUMATARY  37 year old Apurba has completed HSLC and worked with Eco Systems India, Guwahati, Assam. As a freelance photographer, he has been shooting wildlife photographs in Assam and other parts of NER since 2008. He has basic knowledge of photographic techniques, equipment, lighting and photo editing along with the management of wildlife and environment related issues.  He wants to develop his photography skills through the fellowship.

DHRUBA JYOTI DAS  36 year old Dhruba graduated in Electrical Engineering from Assam Engineering Institute, in 2001. He has worked with Eco-Systems India, Guwahati in the past, and is currently working with Mahila Shakti Kendra (MASK), Balipara, Assam. His deep commitment to wildlife conservation and social development coupled with a willingness to learn led him to GreenHub. He has applied for this fellowship with the belief that though people are redefining their traditions, they should remain informed about their cultural and natural heritage. He has the experience of assisting in a series for Animal Planet called World's Deadliest Towns, which focused on wildlife conflict in the east of India.

FRANKLIN RONGHPAR  22 year old Franklin completed schooling from Don Bosco High School, Satgaon and his H.S and B.A  fromDiphuGovt College and a Diploma in Journalism from the same college.  He has interned at local newspapers and AIR Guwahati. Presently he is a coordinator with the People's Initiative for Rural Development (PIRD). A self-entertainer, he loves music and travelling. He has garnered the 2nd prize in instrumental guitar at the State Youth Festival, Jorhat. His desire to proactively engage with nature conservation motivated him to apply for the fellowship.

GEETA TIMSINA  31 year old Geeta, a graduate from Kusumtola College, has been a field worker with Assam MahilaSamata Society since 2008. She has attended workshops like 'Project Proposal Development' organised by The Ant, and participated in a workshop on participatory media technologies organised by the Dept of Mass Communication and Journalism, Tezpur University. She has worked on human trafficking and has been instrumental in saving the lives of 14 girls. Her interest in photography led her to apply for the fellowship

HARSHAVARDHANA DHRUVA  25 year old Harshavardhana completed his post-graduation in Mass Communication and Journalism from Guwahati University. During the course, he did a month long internship at Assam NeTV. Prior to that, he finished his Bachelors in Multimedia from Picasso College of Animation. He has also done a certificate course in Basic Photography from U.B Photos. As a freelance photographer, he is passionate about photography and digital media. The Green Hub fellowship would help him enhance his skills in video documentation in his field of interest.

HISKIYA SANGMA  24 year old Hiskiya has completed HSLC. He is interested in sports, particularly football and has  played for the Dhekiajuli Town Club in the Under 19 tournament in 2008 and Senior District Football, Deokan Trophy in 2010. A keen observer of nature, he has applied for the fellowship at the Green Hub to learn more about conservation.

JIMMY JOHNY KUJUR  24 year old Jimmy holds a degree in Mass Communication from Sikkim Manipal University. A nature lover, he loves to travel and discover new places. He is also a dreamer and a deep thinker with an interest in wildlife. His aim is to become a wildlife cinematographer and make documentary films that influence people and make new spaces for dialogue. During his graduation, he along with his team had made a documentary film on water bodies. His passion for photography led him to apply for the fellowship.

KHEM THAPA  38 year old Khem has been working as a tree-climber and tourist guide at NCF 2009. Khem has immense knowledge about plants and hornbills. At NCF, he also monitors hornbill behaviour and activities like breeding, nesting and food. He applied for the fellowship with the hope of learning photography and video documenting. He has no academic qualificationshowever he is hard working and determined to preserve the environment.

LONGSO WIMCHUNGER  24-year-oldLongso did his schooling from Christian High School, Pungro, Nagaland. He completed Higher Secondary schooling from Zisafi Presidency College in 2013. In 2011, he also served as a volunteer teacher at Saramati Mountain School in Nagaland. He has good knowledge of GPS mapping and a love for wildlife and nature. His keen interest in photography and nature led him to apply for the fellowship. 

PLINDER MARAK  40 year old Plinder studied upto class 12. He is a nature lover and bird watcher. Presently he is working as Village Court cum Council for Garo Hills Autonomous District Council. He is a founder member of Ecotourism and Conservation Society which works towards the promotion of nature based tourism and conservation of wildlife in the region. He believes that video documentation of nature will help in conservation education amongst the people in the region of Garo Hills, Meghalaya.

RIHAN ALI  35 year oldRihangraduated from Guwahati University and joined the National Service Volunteer Scheme under Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kamrup in 2004. This kickstarted his journey in social work.Rihan also regularly volunteers with Gandhi Smriti&DarshanSamiti in New Delhi. He has served as Project Coordinator at ManabSewaSangha in their SHG-bank Linkage Programme in association with NABARD, Guwahati for two years. In 2009, he formed SUROVI ShishuPanchayat with 25 children in Guwahati, through which he has initiated several conservation and awareness camps and campaigns.  He also volunteers with 'The Peace Gong', a global Children’s newspaper (an initiative of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Foundation New Delhi). His long link with environment conservation and education got him interested in applying for the fellowship. He would like to pursue photography as a means of documentation for a better society.

SITAL DAKO  25 year old Sital works at NCFs nursery and fields of NCF.  A keen interest in photography motivated her to apply for the fellowship at The Green Hub. She feels her training here will help in creating awareness among the people of her region. Despite the lack of formal education, her dedication and passion were instrumental in her being selected for the fellowship.

TALLO ANTHONY  24 year old Anthony completed his graduation and did a diploma in computer hardware and networking. For the past four years he has been working with the Forest Department, Shergaon as a contingency computer operator. Anthony has also organized conservation workshops with school children and villagers. His interest in wildlife photography and filming led him to apply for the fellowship to gain more knowledge about cameras, photoshop and video editing. Anthony also loves travelling and drinking ginger tea.

TSUSEKI.Y  33 year old Tsuseki works as a master educator of Bhutan Glory Eco Club at Fakim Village. As a  nature lover he has given training on beekeeping, environment awareness, GPS mapping and birding tours, which are organized by different NGOs and departments. He has also participated in camera trapping exercise at Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary.

WANMEI KONYAK  29 year oldWanmei, completed his Higher Secondary in 2005 and served as a substitute teacher in a govt. primary school for 3 years. At present he is associated with Changlangshu Village Students’ Union, Youth Society, Youngster Band and Friends Football Club in the village. His interest in videography began after he made a documentary film on Naga Logdrum Dragging Ceremony in 2013.  This made the entire film without any formal training. He is also interested in football and music. He believes that the fellowship at Green Hub will enhance his skills in documenting nature and impact on people. He is specifically interested in Jhum Cultivation and traditional uses of forest produce as food and medicines which are fast disappearing.

Y. LIMTHURE  31 year old Limthure has completed matriculation. He has been associated with NEN, Nagaland as a wildlife conservation Master Educator. Currently, he is working as Master Educator for Bhutan Glory Eco-Club at Fakim village. He has attended training programmes like the environment and photography programme, camera trapping at Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary and Khonoma at Kohim). Through the fellowship he aspires to learn more about wildlife and the environment along with enhancing his photography skills. As a nature lover, he enjoys photography, watching butterflies and mammals.

ZAKHUMA  34 year old Zakhuma is currently working as a casual forest guard at Dampa Tiger Reserve and is also a photographer for the Field Directors office. He helps the Department in camera trapping. He also guides personnel from different NGOs like WWF, NCF, Aaranyak and University students in their field research. Right from his childhood days, he felt a deep connect with nature. He is interested in photography and has won prizes in many Mizoram Open Photo Competitions in the past few years. He hopes the fellowship at Green Hub will consolidate his skill set.
